Connecting with the youth

For youth in our league-based cities, the NPBA is more than just a chance to see a professional basketball game with their families—our leagues and players engage directly with young people through after-school and summer youth programs. Our co-ed after-school and summer youth programs focus on connecting 8 – 16-year-old African American and Latin-American youth from families living at or below the line of poverty with Basketball Skill Development, Mentorship, and Tutoring.

Our after-school programs and summer camps are held by the coaches and players of the NPBA, who volunteer to work with local youth. Each team in the NPBA leagues has a staff of at least 20 members – from coaches, to front office, to players. This provides us with the capacity to serve and build a safe space for hundreds of youth each year across the country.

Fundraising

The National Professional Basketball Association (NPBA) takes great pride in actively engaging with the communities in every city where our teams call home. Through a series of carefully orchestrated fundraisers, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us. These events are not just about raising funds but also about forging strong connections, as our players, coaches, and staff come together with local partners to address critical community needs. Whether it’s supporting youth programs, contributing to local charities, or advocating for social causes, the NPBA is committed to being a positive force for change in the places that support us, embodying the spirit of unity and social responsibility that is at the core of our mission. Together, we rise to the occasion, on and off the court, demonstrating that basketball is more than just a game—it’s a catalyst for positive impact in our cities.

Mentorship Program

This mentorship program is designed to develop leadership skills, self-awareness, and mindfulness while focusing on essential aspects of leadership, decision making, communication, teamwork, and collaboration. The final project allows participants to apply their learnings in a practical context and receive feedback for further improvement.
